Philippe Knuesel is a European and Swiss Patent Attorney at Hepp Wenger Ryffel. The focus of his work lies on the medtech industry and in particular startups. He advises clients in European and international patent prosecution proceedings and coordinates infringement and invalidity proceedings in Switzerland and abroad.
Philippe Knuesel studied Materials Science at ETH Zurich and at the University of Pennsylvania (Philadelphia, United States). He conducted several academic and industrial research projects in the field of materials chemistry, in particular relating to nanotechnologies. After a temporary tenure at the Department of Corrections of a Swiss canton, he enrolled in the doctoral program at the Institute of Process Engineering at ETH Zurich, which he completed in 2018. In November 2018, he started his training as a European Patent Attorney with Hepp Wenger Ryffel and became a professional representative at the European Patent Office in July 2022, at a Swiss patent attorney in 2024.
Philippe Knuesel spends most of his free time on trainings and missions as a volunteer fire fighter.
